Nature of Options Trading Risk

Options are complex financial instruments that carry a high degree of risk. Unlike stocks, options can expire worthless, resulting in a total loss of the premium paid. The leverage inherent in options trading means that small movements in the underlying security can result in large percentage gains or losses in the option's value.

• Total Loss of Premium: All options have an expiration date. If the underlying security does not move as anticipated before expiration, the option may expire worthless and you will lose 100% of the premium paid.

• Time Decay (Theta): Options lose value as they approach expiration. Time decay works against the buyer of options.
